Quintessential Primed For 2013 Eagle Farm Cup

May 30th, 2013

Jockey Damian Browne is looking forward to seeing how Quintessenital can handle the weight-for-age conditions of the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup this Saturday June 1, 2013.

Just six horses will line up for the 2013 Eagle Farm Cup and Browne is confident that Quintessential has the ability to take out the race.

“Weight-for-age racing lends itself to a bit of cat and mouse between the best horses and the best jockeys and they’re enjoyable to ride in,” Browne said.

“It’s not a cream-of-the-crop field but most of them have contested some of the better quality races this season and it should be an interesting battle.”

The current rain at Eagle Farm will not concern Browne or Quintessential going into the 2013 Eagle Farm Cup.

“She can race anywhere in a field and handles all types of track conditions,” he said.

“We don’t need much more rain for it to be a pretty ordinary track and she’s performed under those conditions on more than one occasion,” he said.

Quintessential has won five of her 20 race starts and has earned more than $560,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Her last start resulted in a win in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap and the Fast ‘N’ Famous mare will be looking to continue her winning form in the 2013 Eagle Farm Cup this weekend.
